If you're new to the world of AI, this is a good place to gain knowledge. We will showcase AI videos from providers such as OpenAI, the creators of SORA. Other providers that we will follow include Google, Runway, Kling, and Mistral (among a growing list of companies).
AI is changing the game in video creation, and OpenAI’s SORA is leading the charge. SORA is a text-to-video tool that lets users turn words into stunning visuals, opening up all kinds of creative possibilities. Whether you’re an indie filmmaker, a marketer, or just someone looking to try something new, SORA makes video creation more accessible and efficient.
But at SORA's heels comes Google's Veo 2. According to Google, Veo 2 will create high-quality videos in a wide range of subjects, styles, and improvements in detail and realism.
What specific controls should filmmakers expect from these major providers? According to them, their tools will soon understand the unique language of cinematography: lenses, shot type: camera angles, and cinematic effects. They will even understand movie genres and provide settings and controls accordingly.
From OpenAI: "Think of SORA as a tool that transforms your imagination into short, compelling videos. OpenAI designed it to generate clips up to 20 seconds long based on text prompts, making it perfect for everything from brainstorming ideas to creating eye-catching social media content. The quality is impressive, with resolutions up to 1080p, and it even lets you extend existing videos for more versatility."
"SORA’s technology is rooted in OpenAI’s DALL·E 3, but instead of creating static images, it uses advanced diffusion models (a fancy way of saying it cleans up and refines visual data) to produce video. While the specifics of its training data aren’t fully disclosed, OpenAI assures users that it relies on publicly available and licensed materials. In short, SORA combines cutting-edge tech with ease of use, making it stand out in the AI video space."
From Google: "Veo 2 creates incredibly high-quality videos in a wide range of subjects and styles. In head-to-head comparisons judged by human raters, Veo 2 achieved state-of-the-art results against leading models. It brings an improved understanding of real-world physics and the nuances of human movement and expression, which helps improve its detail and realism overall. Veo 2 understands the unique language of cinematography: ask it for a genre, specify a lens, suggest cinematic effects and Veo 2 will deliver — at resolutions up to 4K, and extended to minutes in length. Ask for a low-angle tracking shot that glides through the middle of a scene, or a close-up shot on the face of a scientist looking through her microscope, and Veo 2 creates it (see video above). Suggest “18mm lens” in your prompt and Veo 2 knows to craft the wide angle shot that this lens is known for, or blur out the background and focus on your subject by putting
"shallow depth of field" in your prompt."
Filmmaking has always been an art of both creativity and innovation, a delicate balance between storytelling and technology. The camera obscura gave way to celluloid, which yielded to digital, and now we stand on the precipice of another evolution: the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI). For many filmmakers, this moment feels both thrilling and daunting, as machines step into roles that were once firmly in human hands. Faith-based filmmakers, in particular, face unique challenges and opportunities in this AI revolution. Their stories, deeply rooted in human experiences and spiritual truths, are profoundly personal, and the idea of introducing a machine into such sacred work requires careful reflection.
AI’s arrival is not something to fear, but it is something to approach with wisdom. It offers tools to enhance creativity, streamline production, and expand audience engagement. Yet, it also raises questions about authenticity, ethics, and the sanctity of storytelling. For faith-based filmmakers, the task is clear: to master this technology while ensuring that it serves their mission to glorify God, uplift audiences, and remain faithful to the truth.
The integration of AI into filmmaking is not merely about efficiency—it’s about transformation. AI touches every corner of the creative process, from script development and visual effects to marketing and distribution. For independent filmmakers with limited budgets and resources, this represents an unprecedented opportunity to level the playing field. Yet, as AI becomes more powerful, we must wrestle with a central question: how do we balance innovation with the human connection that lies at the heart of storytelling?
To answer this, we must begin by understanding what AI truly offers.

Artificial Intelligence in filmmaking is not some distant vision of the future; it is here now, reshaping how films are conceived, created, and shared. From tools that analyze story structures to algorithms that predict audience reactions, AI is everywhere, quietly working behind the scenes. For faith-based filmmakers, this means access to tools that can enhance storytelling without compromising authenticity.
Consider the early stages of filmmaking: the spark of an idea, the crafting of a narrative, the delicate dance of characters and plot lines. This is where AI has begun to make its mark. Scriptwriting tools such as ChatGPT can generate dialogue, suggest plot twists, and even help refine character arcs. Imagine a filmmaker working on a story of redemption and grace, inspired by the parable of the Prodigal Son. AI could generate variations on the central theme, offering fresh perspectives that the filmmaker can shape and refine. This doesn’t mean handing over the creative reins to a machine; it means allowing AI to act as a sounding board, a collaborator that sparks ideas while leaving the final decisions firmly in human hands.
The influence of AI extends far beyond the script. In pre-production, tools like Runway ML and MidJourney can generate storyboards and concept art, bringing a director’s vision to life with stunning speed and accuracy. This is particularly valuable for faith-based filmmakers, who often operate with tight budgets. Instead of hiring a team of artists or spending weeks creating mockups, they can use AI to visualize scenes quickly and allocate more time to refining their narrative and themes. For a faith-based filmmaker developing a story about redemption or forgiveness, this means spending less time on logistics and more time refining the spiritual and emotional core of the narrative, helping filmmakers overcome creative roadblocks without compromising their vision.
Post-production, traditionally the most time-intensive part of filmmaking, has been revolutionized by AI as well. Color grading, sound design, and visual effects, once the domain of large teams and specialized software, can now be achieved with AI-powered tools that automate repetitive tasks. A documentary team working on a film about missionary work in remote regions, for instance, might use AI to clean up audio recordings, stabilize shaky footage, and enhance lighting in scenes filmed under challenging conditions. The result is a polished film that retains its authenticity while meeting professional standards. This kind of technological accessibility ensures that the spiritual power of a story is not overshadowed by technical limitations.
The benefits of AI in filmmaking are undeniable, but they also come with challenges—especially for those who approach storytelling as a spiritual calling.
